General Notes

Gomi Korean Wine Bar has a really high rating on both Google Maps and Yelp, but I was pretty disappointed by my experience. The food was relatively bland and had some execution flaws. I should have been somewhat concerned when I came here at 6:30pm on a Saturday and saw nobody else inside. But the service was great. I would not necessarily recommend this place, but it might be worth a try.

Positives

> They have a happy hour special until 7pm each day, during which you can get glasses of wine for $5/7 and small dishes for cheap.
> The service was really friendly. At some point in the middle, one of the staff came over to offer us a third/half glass of wine, to pair with the steak that one of our party members ordered. Complementary!

Dishes Tasted

  • ★☆☆☆ Ttukboki -- Not a great preparation. The rice cakes were actually stuffed with cheese, which is an okay idea in theory but didn't really work that well. The main problem was that the sauce was too watery and didn't adhere to the rice cakes well, nor did it have much flavor. Some of the rice cakes were also somewhat undercooked.
  • ★★☆☆ Spanish Charcuterie -- Okay, but not particularly noteworthy.
  • ★☆☆☆ Grilled Corn -- Not great. Pretty bland, not much "grilled" flavor, and the cheese didn't really add much to the dish.
