General Notes

A simple restaurant focusing on fried chicken sandwiches. Aside from chicken sandwiches, they pretty much only have the burger and fries on their menu. They focus on one thing and they do it well. Their chicken is fried beautifully. I found the classic sandwich to be on the sweeter side and slightly underseasoned, so next time I would probably go for one of their flavored sandwiches. The restaurant itself is a little janky, but I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Positives

> It's in a nice neighborhood! There are a lot of really cool restaurants nearby like Pomella.

Negatives

> Eating here can be a bit janky. It's situated within a bar, which isn't a big deal. You can only order online through a QR code that they have, and they're randomly out of stock of all kinds of stuff. On the day that I went there, they were out of fries, but somehow they still had the fowl fries in stock, which doesn't really make any sense.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★☆ Fowl Fries -- seasoned fries topped with fried chicken, pear slaw, and chipotle aioli. The chipotle aioli was REALLY good and was definitely the star of the dish -- it sent so well with the chicken. The chicken is super tender, juicy, and crisp. The fries were mediocre, a bit hard and in terms of construction of the dish, the aioli didn't really get down to the fries. Overall, still a great dish though!
  • ★★★☆ Classic Chicken Sandwich -- fried chicken thigh, chipotle aioli, house pickles and pear slaw on a toasted brioche bun. The chicken itself is fried incredibly well -- super tender, juicy, and delightfully crisp. The sandwich as a whole is definitely on the sweet side (both the bun and the accompaniments) -- I think I'd prefer a little less sweetness. It also felt slightly underseasoned. I think in the future I'd go for one of their flavored sandwiches.
