General Notes
A wonderful Filipino restaurant at the northern tip of Temescal. They serve a relatively concise set of Filipino classics, and they execute them well. They have both smaller plates and larger plates (although the dishes are a bit larger than you might expect given the prices -- everything is pretty affordable), which allows you to try an assortment of things. I also like that they have a good variety of vegetarian dishes.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★★☆ Summer Corn -- nothing super noteworthy, but prepared well and has a nice flavor.
- ★★★★ Tortang Talong -- eggplant omelette, tomato, scallion, banana ketchup, soy. The eggplant has a wonderful roasted flavor, and it pairs really well with the tomato, scallion, and banana ketchup (which itself tastes kind of like a hybrid between ketchup and sweet/sour sauce). Definitely will be trying to make this myself sometime.
- ★★☆☆ Daing na Bangus -- boneless milkfish, cherry tomato, scallions, cilantro, finadene. It's well fried and I like the flavor of it all, but I do wish the fish were a bit more tender. It's definitely overcooked and a little dry.
- ★★☆☆ Sticky Wings -- I don't remember the ingredients, but it's a relatively sweet glaze that definitely has a bit of fish sauce. It's well fried and has a good flavor but is a touch overcooked.
- ★★★☆ Veggie Lumpia -- sweet potato, carrot, garlic, potato, green bean, onion, garlic vinegar. The garlic vinegar was a nice touch; overall fried well, good dish.
