General Notes

A fantastic new Persian restaurant, a wonderful addition to the NYC restaurant. It's a bit far out from Manhattan (in Williamsburg / Bushwick) but definitely worth the trip. There wasn't any particular dish that was exceptionally noteworthy, but each individual dish was delicious and well-balanced, which made for an overall delightful experience. Most of their dishes are small plates, which gives you an opportunity to try all kinds of dishes. Although keep in mind that the dishes are not quite as small as the server might make them out to be, so be careful not to over-order.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Duck Fesenjan -- rohan duck breast, pomegranate walnut sauce, radicchio, grapes, basmati rice. The pomegranate-walnut sauce is a bit too sweet and isn't exactly my favorite, but every other component is amazing. Duck is perfectly cooked, radicchio has a lovely char.
  • ★★★☆ Kabob Kaboodeh -- ground beef and lamb brisket, tomato butter, saffron rice. Also served with a Valencia orange wedge for acidity. The tomato butter is a fantastic addition to this dish, and the meat is tender + flavorful. Great dish!
  • ★★★☆ Salad Shirazi -- heirloom tomato, persian cucumbers, red onion, sumac, verjus dressing. Not particularly noteworthy, but simple, refreshing, and delicious. The seasoning and acidity is perfect; flavorful but not overpowering.
  • ★★★☆ Komaj Bread -- turmeric, cumin. Apparently this is made with yogurt, which gives it the characteristic fluffy texture. The flavor is nice; the cumin seeds add a nice textural contrast too. Great for mopping up sauces / etc.
