General Notes

Every Thursday from 9:30 to 12:30, students open a bakeshop at the City College of SF's downtown campus. Apparently it's part of a class where you learn to bake all kinds of different things, as well as practice service skills. They offer a large selection of great pastries, and at absurdly cheap prices -- a baguette is $1, a croissant is $2, etc. It's a little bit haphazard and disorganized at times, but overall the food is excellent, especially for the price. Apparently the menu rotates throughout the year too; looking forward to coming back in the future to try some of their other offerings.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Almond Croissant -- Solid flavor, it felt very slightly overbaked; would have liked the interior to be a little bit softer, and possibly just a bit more almond paste. Overall delicious though.
  • ★★★☆ Palmier -- Delightfully buttery and flaky, perfect amount of sugar, love that caramelized sugar.
  • ★★★☆ Focaccia -- Delicious! The bread is soft and fluffy, and the toppings are excellent -- not too overpowering and a great flavor combination.
