General Notes

Great sandwich shop in central SoMa (and conveniently located a block away from my current office). As a result, I've been here quite a few times now. The sandwiches are delicious and thoughtfully constructed to achieve the perfect balance in each bite. I especially like their French roll, which has an amazing texture and pairs really well with other components in the sandwich. A bit on the pricier side for a sandwich shop, but absolutely worth it and the sandwiches are huge.

Positives

> The sandwiches are HUGE. They don't look that large, but they are densely packed and filled high with meat. A full sandwich, especially one with heavier meats like pastrami, corned beef, or roast beef, is quite a lot of food. It's not a bad idea to split a sandwich + fries with another person, especially if you're not that hungry.

Negatives

> Each sandwich comes "board pickles" on the side, which is essentially ... a whole pickle. While the pickle itself is quite solid it's a little bit awkward to eat. I don't fully understand the idea behind serving a whole pickle on the side.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★★ Waffle Fries -- served with Mick sauce. Super delicious, awesome texture, and the Mick sauce is incredible.
  • ★★★★ Carzle -- Romanian pastrami, brisket, provolone, cherry peppers, pickles, cole slaw, Board sauce, garlic French roll
  • ★★★★ Flipya -- Pastrami, provolone cheese, cherry peppers, coleslaw, cleveland brown mustard, french roll. The bread has the perfect texture and pairs so well with the other ingredients. The pastrami is tender, juicy, and flavorful. The other components add a great tangy contrast. The whole sandwich is really well balanced. If I'd change one thing, I'd actually put slightly less pastrami. Otherwise, amazing sandwich!
