A tiny Japanese restaurant situated in East Village that specializes specifically in Japanese curry. Without a question, they serve the best Japanese curry that I've had. There are virtually no flaws and all elements of the food are executed with precision. Simple, yet refined and delicious. Curry-Ya specializes in one thing, and they execute it really well. If you're craving Japanese curry, I would absolutely recommend giving this place a try!
> The curry is excellent. It is the perfect consistency - a bit thicker and more "creamy" than the typical Japanese curry. It's well seasoned and also has a noticeable acidity to it. I've never experienced anything quite like it before, but I found that it balanced out the dish really well.
> They serve the curry on the side in a metal pot. Certainly a bit unusual, but does wonders in keeping the curry warm. So many times in the past when I've ordered Japanese curry, the curry just becomes cold and unappetizing. Be careful though - the metal pot is extremely hot.
> The restaurant is very, very small. I think it's barely 10 feet wide, and has only counter space for around 15 guests. Do not expect to get a seat here if you come with a large party. This restaurant is best enjoyed as a solo diner, or maybe up to a party of 3 if you're feeling lucky.
