General Notes

A small shop in East Village specializing in macarons and chocolates. Apparently, their chocolates are actually vegan - I was not expecting this. I stopped by a few times randomly when I was in the mood for a smallish dessert (i.e. 1 macaron). Their macarons are not great and pretty expensive. I would not necessarily recommend this place.

Positives

> The service is very friendly! I ask every time for recommendations and they are always happy to help.
> Their macaron flavors are pretty unique. Things like violet, peanut butter churro are some of their flagship flavors and things that I've never really seen elsewhere.

Negatives

> Unfortunately, the macarons don't actually taste that good. I think the main problem is the texture. The filling is a bit too soft, and so is the cookie itself. It doesn't really have that nice resistance when you bite into it. I also feel that I sense a pretty strong banana flavor in the cookie, for some reason.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★☆☆☆ Violet Macaron -- Violet is a pretty interesting flavor. It's very fruity, slightly floral, and somehow feels slightly banana-y. I found the flavor to be okay. The texture of the macaron wasn't the greatest. The design was cool though.
  • ★★☆☆ Lemon & Poppyseed Macaron -- I enjoyed this flavor - this was my first time being able to put a handle on what poppyseed tastes like, and it paired well with the lemon. Again, I felt that the texture could be improved.
