General Notes

Beautiful restaurant with lakefront views in the heart of Tahoe City. I was attracted to this place mostly by the views (it's gorgeous, definitely try to come here at around sunset time, indoors or outdoors are both good, depending on the time of year), but the food was also really good, surprisingly good. Definitely try the chocolate croissant bread pudding and the smoked pork belly + scallops -- they're delicious. Super friendly service too. Great spot for a special occasion.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★☆ chocolate croissant bread pudding -- creme chantilly, chocolate shavings. One of the most delicious things I've ever tasted, but would be even a little better with more whipped cream, and with it a little less broken / curdled.
  • ★★★☆ venison loin -- mole negro, yucca & walnuts croquette, golden beets, acidulated cherries. The mole is a bit odd with this dish but overall everything is cooked really well and pairs well.
  • ★★★★ smoked pork belly and maine day boat scallops -- apple cider beurre blanc, celeriac, trout roe, perilla, apple mignonette. All the components are so delicious. Scallops are cooked perfectly, they're not overly salty like many others
  • ★★★☆ baja farms heirloom tomatoes -- strawberry molasses, roasted garlic stracciatella, lemon verbena. The stracciatella and lemon verbena are a nice touch
  • ★★☆☆ summer peach salad -- butter lettuce, gorgonzola dulce, metjool date vinaigrette, candied pecans. The whole salad is a little under-seasoned until you realize that all the dressing is at the bottom
  • ★★☆☆ venison tartare -- espresso coffee aioli, huckleberries, parmigiano reggiano crouton, quail egg. Pretty solid
