General Notes

The restaurant name is really confusing. "Chili Garden" suggests Sichuan, Chongqing, or otherwise spicy food. But in reality this is a restaurant that specializes in Northeastern Chinese food, and you can definitely tell from the servers and the overall vibe of the place (although interestingly, they do in fact also make Sichuan / Chongqing food). The food is delicious and dishes are pretty reasonably priced considering their portion. Great place to try 铁锅炖, a classic Northeastern chinese dish.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ 油菜心 -- A bit overcooked. Although I enjoyed the flavor -- it was cooked like a 清蒸鱼 with soy, ginger, scallions, and oil.
  • ★★★☆ 龙岗走地鸡炖榛蘑 -- $60 for a massive portion (definitely enough for 3 people). The flavor is incredible, honestly my favorite parts were the starches (potato, mung bean noodles, and 花卷). The chicken was good, a little bit overcooked / dry in some places, the mushroom actually tasted pretty good, I was pleasantly surprised
