General Notes

A decent option for Spanish tapas and wines. Aside from a couple of standouts (the lamb flatbread and the squash & brussels), the food is good but not amazing. I am a bit disappointed that that prix fixe and tasting menus are not available for parties of more than 6; I was really looking forward to some paella but we couldn't order it, for some reason. They are, however pretty good for outdoor dining for large parties (they took a reservation for 10). The service is quite friendly -- ask them for recommendations!

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★☆ Pinchos Morunos -- buttermilk-soaked Moorish spiced chicken skewers, herb aioli, pickled piparra-olive salsa. One of the better fried chickens I've had; well-fried and very flavorful; the acidic components pack a nice punch.
  • ★★☆☆ Churros con Chocolate -- cinnamon sugar, chocolate dip. The churros are well fried but the "dough" itself is way too soft/mushy and has very little flavor, which was a bit disappointing.
  • ★★☆☆ Chocolate Olive Oil Almond Cake -- coconut creme, caramel, candied nuts. The coconut creme was a nice touch! Otherwise, about average. It's served in a small cast-iron pan, which is interesting
  • ★★☆☆ Grilled Lollipop Lamb Chops -- creamy polenta, salsa verde, carrots, broccolini. Decent flavor but the lamb chops were not as tender and had quite a bit of silver skin that made it unpleasant to eat.
  • ★★☆☆ Pulpo -- olive oil braised spanish octopus, fingerling potato, lemon caper aioli. Not necessarily bad, but a bit disappointing. The octopus was tender but cut into tiny pieces and there's no semblance of searing it at all.
  • ★★★☆ Seared Scallops -- Pan seared scallops, corn, bacon, herb aioli, on toast. Great flavor combination; my only complaint is that this is incredibly difficult to eat cleanly.
  • ★★★★ Squash & Brussels -- Roasted kabocha squash, crispy brussels, feta, labneh yogurt, fig aioli, pepitas. Each component (esp the brussels) are prepared beautifully and the flavors work together really well.
  • ★★☆☆ Tortilla Espanola -- potato, egg, onion, paprika sour cream. Solid, though I'm a bit confused by the cubes of potato (the construction isn't the best)
  • ★★☆☆ Patatas Bravas -- crispy potato, almond-romesco, garlic-paprika aioli. Decent flavor but I've had better -- the potato is a bit unpleasantly "hard" as opposed to crispy.
  • ★★☆☆ Broccoli Rabe & Pickled Serrano Chile Flatbread -- sheep's cheese, dressed arugula, feta, sofrito. Still good but not as great as the roasted lamb one; the flavor combination is a bit lacking and doesn't have the same lovely texture on the flatbread.
  • ★★★★ Roasted Lamb Flatbread -- currant, harissa, sofrito, sheep's cheese. This is amazing -- great combination of flavors, flatbread has a lovely texture.
  • ★☆☆☆ Market Street Salad -- pears, pickled green strawberries, seed mix, dried apricot, blood orange vinaigrette. Decent flavor but the construction of the salad makes NO SENSE. The lettuce leaves are absolutely giant and totally unwieldy to consume.
  • ★★☆☆ Croquetas de Jamon -- jamon, chicken, egg, bechamel. A bit too heavy on the cheese / cream for my taste, but the texture was lovely and the taste was solid.
  • ★★☆☆ Flash Fried Shishito Peppers -- flaky sea salt. Pretty solid, nothing particularly noteworthy
