General Notes

I recently saw Boichik Bagels featured on Eater's 38 essential East Bay restaurants, and I was not disappointed. I just tried their everything bagel with vegan cream cheese, and it was delightful! I wasn't a huge fan of bagels growing up since I was primarily exposed to crappy supermarket bagels. But a proper bagel from a bagel shop is really something else. The lines can get pretty long (expect to wait ~15 minutes on most days) and the bagels themselves are quite expensive, but definitely worth it. Next time I'd love to try the lox with their bagel.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Whitefish Salad -- Decent but not amazing. I think it's a bit too heavy on the mayo / other ingredients and isn't fish-forward enough.
  • ★★★☆ Everything Bagel + Vegan Cream Cheese -- Delightful texture, perfectly toasted, and lovely contrast between the chewy interior and slightly crisp exterior. The vegan cream cheese was slightly lighter than regular cream cheese, which I enjoyed. The cream cheese spread is quite generous; it's personally enough for two bagels for me. The flavorings on the everything bagel was lovely as well.
