General Notes
Excellent Cantonese restaurant serving up all kinds of comforting foods. Someone I met from 广东 recommended this place to me and it did not disappoint. Everything that we ordered was delicious, but their most popular dishes seem to be their ginger / green onion chicken and their clay pot rice dishes. This is what I imagine good Cantonese cooking to be like -- somehow simultaneously not particularly intensely flavored but also such great flavors. It gets pretty busy, especially on the weekends; apparently it wasn't that busy until 小红书 started recommending it.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★★☆ eel clay pot rice -- excellent flavor, it's quite herbaceous with a good amount of green onion / cilantro. The crispy rice on the side adds a nice touch too. There's not actually much eel and I don't think it adds that much to the dish, but overall excellent. This is a surprisingly huge portion too.
- ★★★☆ pumpkin and shrimp with salted egg yolk -- never had anything quite like it before but it was delicious! fried well, egg yolk adds a nice touch. especially the pumpkin. It's a massive portion though, you'll definitely want to make sure you have at least several people to be eating this
- ★★★★ sauteed large pea sprout with garlic -- surprisingly huge portion, cooked really well
- ★★★★ chicken ginger green onion -- one of their signature dishes, everyone was ordering it and it was really popular on 小红书. Cooked well, the sauce mixture was perfect, I loved the savory touch the oil added. It was cooked kind of like 清蒸鱼 except in chicken form
