General Notes
Bibi Wine Bar is a cozy little wine bar located in East Village. What stands out the most is probably their happy hour, which extends until 8pm every single day, including weekends. Select glasses of wine and small plates are $7 and $5, respectively. Very reasonably priced, good service, delicious charcuterie, and decent wines. They also have a decent amount of space and don't get too busy as long as you get there at a reasonable time. I would recommend giving this place a try!
Positives
> The happy hour here is excellent! Select glasses of wine for just $7 ($25 for a bottle), and specific small plates for $5 each. Definitely go for the chicken liver pate!
Negatives
> I came here on a Friday at around 7pm, and it was quite loud. It's certainly more of a laid back, neighborhood kind of wine bar.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★☆☆ Cabernet Sauvignon -- Decent red wine, don't remember this one as well but it was ok.
- ★★★☆ Sauvignon Blanc (Layla 2018, Chile) -- Relatively clean, crisp, and refreshing. Good wine to start off with. Note, however, that it doesn't have that much acidity or aroma.
- ★★★★ Chicken Liver Pate -- Cranberry mousse, served with dijon mustard. Super flavorful, excellent texture, and great balance between sweet, salty and savory. Pairs well with the dijon mustard as well.
- ★☆☆☆ Chorizo Seco -- Hard spicy paprika. I decided to try something new, and this is certainly not my preferred kind of charcuterie and I will not be ordering this in the future. Pretty dry, hard, and doesn't have much flavor other than a pretty strong paprika flavor. The texture is not my favorite and doesn't have much savoriness going for it.
- ★★☆☆ Ewephoria -- Firm butterscotch (sheep). Probably not my preferred type of cheese, but decided to give it a try. It generally tastes good but doesn't have that much flavor, though it pairs pretty well with the accompaniment (forgot exactly what it was though)
- ★★★★ Brillat Savarin -- Triple cream brie (cow), served with honey. Definitely one of my favorite cheeses, super creamy and soft. Goes beautifully well with honey and bread.
