General Notes

Bi-Rite is a great option for ice cream in SF, though probably not my top choice (I'd probably prefer Garden Creamery, Marco Polo, or Salt & Straw). It has the advantage of being in an incredible location (right next to Dolores Park), so there's a good chance you might venture here with friends sometimes. The ice cream itself is solid but sometimes has some flecks of ice interspersed, which reduces the enjoyment of eating it somewhat. The flavors tend to be pretty pronounced, which works well for certain flavors but not necessarily for all of them.

Positives

> They have a decent number of vegan options, and they're actually quite good. Which is great if you're lactose intolerant like me.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ chocolate + coconut (vegan) -- there are a bit too many flecks of ice in this, which makes it not quite as enjoyable to eat, but I found the overall mouth feel + flavor to be quite good for vegan ice cream.
  • ★★★☆ Olive Oil
  • ★☆☆☆ Honey Lavender -- Surprisingly, I found the lavender flavor to be a bit too strong and overpowering. Which is surprising because I'm a huge lavender fan.
  • ★★★☆ Black Sesame -- The black sesame flavor is really pronounced and I love it!
