General Notes

Best Friend is a really popular Korean / Mexican fusion restaurant in Park MGM. I found it to be overrated, unfortunately. Everything is quite expensive for what you get (although it could be "reasonable" for Vegas prices). And quite frankly, the food just does not taste as good as what you'd expect, given how much hype there is around this restaurant.

Negatives

> It is really, really loud in the restaurant. It functions kind of like a live music venue, to a certain degree. It's pretty difficult to have a proper conversation with someone here.
> Nit: the bar seating is really uncomfortable. I'm not sure why they designed it like this, but the side of the bar goes straight down. In effect, there's nowhere to put your legs and you either have to sit sideways or uncomfortably far back from the bar.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★☆☆☆ Korean Wings -- chili, citrus. I'm not a fan of the sauce, which is overly sweet. The wings are fried well, but it doesn't really taste like "Korean wings" at all.
  • ★★☆☆ Kimchi Fried Rice -- caramelized kimchi, poached egg. The poached egg is cooked super well. The rest of the fried rice is alright (the texture of the rice is nice, there are a couple of crispy bits here and there), but the flavor of the dish is a little strange.
  • ★★☆☆ Marinaded Cucumbers -- Solid cucumbers, nice tart + lightly spicy flavor
  • ★☆☆☆ Miso Squash -- seasonal squash, crispy shallots, miso glaze, basil. This sounds like it has the potential to be a really good dish (which is why I decided to try it), but the flavor is just way, way too strong. It's badly overseasoned and the miso just gives it an unpleasant taste.
