General Notes

Begoni Bistro is a solid option for weekend dim-sum in Chinatown. I remember having their shrimp dumplings, shao mai, chicken feet (in a spicy sauce), fried tofu skin, stuffed eggplant, and chashu rice roll. Each item was prepared fairly well. They take reservations, and from what I've heard they're one of the few places in Chinatown which are relatively friendly to non-Cantonese speaking people.

Negatives

> Their tea is meh. The flavor is alright, but there are so many tiny pieces of loose leaves floating in the tea that you'll end up getting leaves in every other bite.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Chashu Rice Roll
  • ★☆☆☆ Stuffed Eggplant -- The sauce is nice, but I'm not the biggest fan of the stuffing and it's so large that it's completely unwieldy to eat.
  • ★★★☆ Fried Tofu Skin -- A little oily, but SO crispy and well fried
  • ★★★☆ Chicken Feet -- served in a spicy sauce. I was expecting the classic chicken feet, but was pleasantly surprised by the more Sichuan-style preparation. It was more soupy and actually worked quite well with the chicken feet.
  • ★★★☆ Shao Mai -- surprisingly juicy!
  • ★★☆☆ Shrimp Dumplings
