General Notes

Base Camp is a nice Nepalese restaurant in the eastern part of the Mission. Nice ambiance, overall lovely dishes (though I think I'd order some slightly different items next time), executed well.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★★☆ Garlic Naan -- Really solid garlic naan! Warm and fluffy with a nice lightly crisp exterior.
  • ★☆☆☆ Paneer Ra Matar -- paneer, cow cheese, is cooked with green peas in a savory tomato and onion gravy. Not a bad dish per se, but this one's not for me. The curry is a little watery and a little grainy, and as a whole it feels pretty heavily underseasoned.
  • ★★★☆ Lamb Momo -- this is a special item that's not typically on the menu -- nice flavor, served with roasted tomato and soybean sauce.
  • ★★★☆ Spicy Cauliflower -- chickpea battered cauliflower fried with sesame seed, and curry leaves. Well fried, generally delicious, though the flavor feels just a touch off.
