General Notes
A lovely patisserie in Pacific Heights with a very expansive list of pastries and individual sized desserts, though they're apprently best known for their kouign amann, bostock, and macarons. They're a bit of an institution in San Francisco; expect a short wait if you're coming during peak hours.
Positives
> A HUGE variety of pastries. Make sure you set a budget because if you're like me you'll end up being tempted and getting way too much.
> There's a lovely park nearby called Alta Plaza Park. It has great sweeping views in all directions, and it's a great place to take your pastries to and enjoy!
Dishes Tasted
- ★★★☆ Bostock -- Seasonal -- I got a passionfruit one. Appearance-wise looks similar to the kouign-amann at Arsicault. Delightful texture -- soft, buttery, moist cakey interior with a light crispy exterior. In my opinion, passionfruit isn't the best flavor combination with this pastry, but the pastry itself is absolutely delightful.
- ★★☆☆ Chocolate Almond Banana Croissant -- Actually a great idea in terms of flavor combinations, but unfortunately I'm not the biggest fan of banana. The pastry leans a bit too much on soft/mushy and lacks the textural contrast that I'd want in a pastry like this.
- ★★★☆ Butter Mochi -- It's actually a mochi cake! topped with a bit of coconut. Delicious, though not necessarily my top choice.
- ★★★★ Kouign Amann -- Crisp exterior, soft and buttery interior, and a delightful sugared top. This is more of a traditional kouign amann compared to the Arsicault one. I mildly prefer the ones at Arsicault but these are delicious too!
