First time trying monjayaki. I wanted to try it for the unique experience (definitely haven't seen this in the states), but not a big fan. The "monjayaki" itself is basically just a bunch of stuff that's stir-fried on a teppanyaki grill, coated with a bit of batter. The batter makes it gooey and it doesn't really have any textural contrast to speak of. Separately, we also ordered the mochi-ten, which was more like what I expected -- a chewy okonomiyaki form that's more battery. Also meh, it's a little too battery for me, I prefer the Osaka style okonomiyaki. Definitely ask the staff to make it for you the first time, as I was very confused. You'll want to stir-fry the dry ingredients first before adding the water and batter, to avoid straight-up steaming everything. I forget exactly what I ordered, but I think it was some combination of three monjas and the mochi-ten.
