General Notes

A Sack of Potatoes (一袋馬鈴薯) is a really interesting restaurant. It's like Asian street food (a fusion of a lot of various east Asian influences) / snacks / cafe all in one. Their menu is huge and has everything that you could imagine -- fries (which explains the name of the restaurant), drinks / boba, snacks, musubi, bento, crepes, and egg waffles. I saw this on Google Maps recently, and honestly half of the reason I decided to come was because of the name of the restaurant; it's so intriguing. For the most part, the food and drinks are about average (based on a limited sample, the fries are WONDERFUL though), but the ambiance is nice -- it's really spacious and clean. The food items that I tried were not necessarily the most noteworthy but I do want to return to try their other offerings.

Positives

> The servers / people working there are super friendly and nice!

Negatives

> All of their food comes in takeout containers, and they give you takeout utensils too. I wouldn't say it's the most pleasant eating experience.

Dishes Tasted

  • ★★☆☆ Traditional Chinese Crepe -- The textures are nice, but it's pretty bland. It doesn't have much in the way of flavor.
  • ★★☆☆ Unagi Musubi -- spam, tamago, unagi. Not bad (you can't really go wrong with any of these ingredients), but not particularly noteworthy either.
  • ★☆☆☆ New Orleans Chicken Wings -- Not exactly sure what makes these "New Orleans" chicken wings. The flavor is decent, but the texture leaves some to be desired. It's this weird middle ground between bouncy skin (like Chinese-style soy braised chicken wings) and baked with a crispy exterior, and I'm not a fan.
  • ★★★★ Masago Kimchi Fries -- masago, kimchi, poached egg, mayo, nori, green onions, and some kind of special sauce. This combination is INCREDIBLE. The fries are cooked really well, and all the other components mesh together beautifully
  • ★☆☆☆ Coconut Fruit Sago -- coconut milk, watermelon, sago, and some other fruits. Not necessarily bad, but not particularly noteworthy either. The drink just doesn't have much flavor and is a bit bland.
