General Notes
A Buttercup Dessert House is a delightful dessert cafe that recently opened in the Mission, near the 24th / Mission BART stop. They offer pretty much everything you'd expect from an Asian-inspired dessert cafe, including toasts, parfaits, and various drinks. Excellent food, nice ambiance, cute bathroom. I'd definitely be interested in coming back to try some of their other offerings. This offers great competition against Garden Creamery for a post-dinner dessert in the southern part of the Mission.
Dishes Tasted
- ★★★☆ Thai Tea Toast -- Toasted bread, Thai tea sauce, Thai tea ice cream, whipped cream and crumble. Delicious, though I didn't eat too much of it because of the caffeine.
- ★★★☆ Mango Delight Parfait -- Mango ice cream, sweet sticky rice, coconut sauce, mango sauce, fresh mango, and toasted almond. A nice dessert, kind of like a mango sticky rice in partfait form with less sticky rice.
- ★★★★ Banana Brulee Toast -- burnt butter toast, ice cream, caramel sauce, crispy wafer, banana brulee, crispy wafer, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream. This is SO DELICIOUS. The caramelized sugar really adds such a wonderful flavor + texture. The burnt butter toast kinda tastes like a kouign amann, in some ways.
- ★☆☆☆ Chocolate Fondue -- grapes, brownies, marshmallows, strawberries, chocolate fondue. served with ice cream over some crunchy bits. Honestly the individual components are pretty good, but brownies / marshmallows don't belong in a chocolate fondue, it's a bit too much. This was a December special, so you probably won't see it on their menu
